Our heartiest congratulations to His Excellency Archbishop Jean Claude Hollerich, Archbishop of The Duchy of Luxembourg who has been elevated to the position of Cardinal by His Holiness Pope Francis, as of September 1, 2019. The Public Consistory at which the Archbishop will be formally appointed by the Pope at the Vatican is on October 5, 2019. Archbishop Hollerich is a dear friend to us at Assumption University of Thailand, and His Excellency as a European Scholar has studied extensively the Relations between King Narai and Europe. As such Archbishop Hollerich has visited Ayuthaya countless numbers of times, leading his students from Sophia University, Japan where he was professor for 22 years to take in the splendor and importance of the Ancient Thai Kingdom. In this photograph from December 31, 2015 Archbishop Hollerich lead a group of priests and youth from Luxembourg to Thailand and as part of the study tour, visited the Chapel of St. Louis Marie de Montfort to illustrate the strong faith of the Thai Catholics. Rev. Dr. Amnuay Yoonprayong and I received the Luxembourgi Guests on behalf of the University Rector and Rector Emeritus, Rev. Brother Dr. Prathip Martin Komolmas who received the Archbishop at The Brother Martin Collection. As we congratulate Archbishop Hollerich whose ecclesiastical motto is "Annunciate" we remember his humility and his work for the underprivileged youth, more recently in Chiangrai where he helped set up a Learning Institute for tribal youth through his mobilization of funds from generous donors.
